Why Made In America Is So Great To Look For In Vintage | Selling Vintage On Etsy... There's no denying it, vintage is in and as a vintage Etsy seller you can be the one to help supply buyers with amazing vintage finds!

As we have seen recently, there is a need in the US for American manufactured products that pairs nicely with sense of patriotism that we all share as citizens.

The great thing about vintage American made is the quality that was used to produce these items. You can often tell even before seeing the “Made In USA” stamps or stickers by the weight and craftsmanship of the pieces. Finding these vintage quality pieces is a fantastic way to source for your vintage store. From kitschy to elegant, American vintage is hot.

America is, and always has been “the great melting pot” and with that came many styles, cultures and looks that fed into American vintage. It all “melted” into a look that is old, adorable and definitely American.

FURNITURE AND WOOD

Selling vintage furniture might seem overwhelming at first (how are you going to ship all those big heavy pieces?) but there are many smaller furniture pieces that do not weigh a ton!

If you find furniture at a garage sale, estate sale or auction that looks handmade, you’re all but guaranteed that these old pieces were made right here, in America.

Look for scrape marks in the wood and dovetail corners on the drawers to find quality handmade pieces. Oh! And do not forget to look for vintage architectural salvage “furniture” like medicine drawers and dry sinks, spindles or fireplace parts.

KITCHENWARE

Oh my gosh, it is so much fun finding old kitchenware that is Made In The USA!

Old mason jars can be used for all sorts of things: glasses to drink from; on the counter to hold spatulas and spoons; as a vase for flowers.

They were definitely made in America, and you can even find old glassware in colors to complement your buyers’ décor.

Pitchers and basins were a staple in turn of the century homes. They can be used as a decoration on their own or for other uses. Old bowls can be used from desks to living rooms to hold all sorts of odds and ends creatively.

TOOLS

If you are selling on Etsy there is a built in audience of artists and craftsmen that are looking for quality tools. I have found all kinds of cool tools from days gone by that people love to source on Etsy.

Estate sales and garage sales are a great source of vintage tools! You can take a peek at the metal bands and see if there is a Made In USA mark on the piece or check afterward to see if the brand is an American company.

MADE IN AMERICA VINTAGE WRAPUP

If you are selling vintage on Etsy please make sure to keep your peepers open for Made In America pieces. The high quality and Made In USA brand value will be a great benefit to your shop!
